Sudan has more pyramids than Egypt — roughly twice as many.

Egypt’s pyramids are far larger and better known, but Sudan contains a greater number of them — estimates range from around 200 to more than 250, against roughly 120 to 140 in Egypt. Most are clustered at Meroë, Nuri and El-Kurru and served as royal tombs for the rulers of Kush.

The Nubian pyramids are steeper and smaller than their Egyptian counterparts, typically standing between 6 and 30 metres tall, and were built over a span of many centuries.
