India has the largest postal network in the world.

India Post operates more than 150,000 post offices, more than any other country, with the great majority in rural areas. On average each office serves several thousand people, and in remote regions the service also handles savings accounts and government payments.

Among its more unusual branches is a floating post office on Dal Lake in Srinagar, opened in 2011 and housed on a converted houseboat.
